📣📣📣New initiative! We are announcing our new Facebook group: International Students Alumni Network (ISAN) at Penn State!

It is a closed community for the International students of The Pennsylvania State University. Members use this community to share information that would be of value to their peers, ask and answer questions, organize, offer support to one another, and help celebrate successes. We aim to use this group to discuss questions/concerns about job search, visa policies, COVID-19 restrictions and much more.

WHAT IS PENN PALS?
Penn State Pals is a student-led program created by the International Student Council and the University Park Undergraduate Association which pairs incoming international students with current students at Penn State University's campus (Mentors) to create meaningful mentor-mentee relationships that provide students the opportunity to become acquainted with the United States—specifically their starting campus—throughout their first semester of college. The Penn State Pals Mentors are resources for questions about college life such as classes, finances, sports and athletics, downtown life, and much more.
MISSION STATEMENT:
It is the ultimately the program’s mission to provide incoming students with the opportunity to build strong friendships with students on campus, develop greater confidence in their decision to come to Penn State, and acquire a head start on all that PSU has to offer to ensure students have what they need to succeed both personally and professionally in all that they do.

ACTION NEEDED!

Attached below is the link to a google poll/survey that a some student leaders at Penn State are working on regarding the recent ICE updates. This poll is to see the international student body's agreement with a few solutions proposed by students through a previous poll. These solutions will be included in a
letter to President Barron calling for action. They are looking to send this letter with the solutions from the survey to President Barron by tomorrow (July 14th).

PLEASE FILL OUT THE POLL TODAY so that we are able to get as many responses as possible. Feel free to share it with any of your friends to spread the word. Hope you are all staying safe and being responsible. We are all in this together and will get through these tough times soon.

We Are horrified by the tragic death of George Floyd. It shows how the minority in this country still needs to work extra hard to earn the place just like the others. It shows until there is truly equality among all different races, there is still room to fight for. As an organization, we stand with equality, we stand with anti-racism, we stand with Black Lives Matter. It’s time that we all come together and start asking questions to understand what it is like to be a minority, what it is like to be black. We all contribute and are part of this community, and we are not going to let people being discriminated just because of their race. We hope everyone can take actions to support equality, to support anti-racism, to support Black Lives Matters. As the International Student Council, we are guided by our constitution to provide a respectful and welcoming environment for all Penn State students so we will continue to support them, especially those from Black communities, during this difficult time. As we stand together to prevent these discriminating acts, we urge you all to keep staying safe and continue to wear your masks, social distance, and avoid large gatherings.
