Originally the Adelphean Society (Adelphean comes from the Greek word for "sister"), Alpha Delta Pi was founded on May 15th, 1851 at Wesleyan Female College in Macon, Georgia by Eugenia Tucker Fitzgerald, Octavia Andrews Rush, Mary Evans Glass, Ella Pierce Turner, Elizabeth Williams, and Sophronia Woodruff Dews. ADPi has the distinction of being the first secret society for women, and was founded on the principles of scholarship, leadership, sisterhood, and service to others.

Becca will be a junior in the fall, and this summer she is working as a Digital Marketing Intern at Surgo Group in NYC.

She says, "Working in the city has always been a dream of mine, so finally getting this internship was a huge deal for me!"

She writes their blog content and runs their social media platforms, which features mostly millennial-like topics and trends, plus it's right up her alley as a journalism major. She also works on marketing research/projects and helps their clients, which she says has all been really cool to learn about and be a part of. Two girls who work there full-time are both PSU alums so that's definitely made her experience even better!

"While I'm in love with NYC, I cannot wait to be back at school with my people in less than a month!!!"

Lauren Hess is a rising Junior studying BioBehavioral Health, and she wants to be a Physician's Assistant for the US Air Force. This summer, she is volunteering in the Emergency Room at Lehigh Valley Hospital where she is shadowing Physicians Assistants in the Trauma Unit!

She says, "If I could work there after I spend a few years in the Air Force that would be incredible."

Lauren also spends a lot of time caddying at Lehigh Country Club, which is a job she absolutely loves, because it gives her the opportunity to meet a ton of respectable people in her area including doctors, growing her connections and opportunities.

"When I'm not doing either of those, I'm trying to be adventurous and take advantage of being young, including going to the beach, spending time with my friends, and skydiving."

Marielle will be a junior in the fall, and this summer she has the incredible opportunity to have an internship through ASI., Advertising Specialty Institute. Through this program, she is working as a Sales and Marketing Intern for Sandscripts, an online promotional products retailer which services clients around the world.

She says, "My favorite part of this opportunity is that each day is different. Not only do I directly interact with customers, helping them choose the perfect products to fulfill their needs, but I also have the chance to help develop and implement numerous marketing campaigns. My favorite project so far has been a photoshoot we have planned for this summer featuring many of our new products."

Through the internship, she also had the opportunity to attend two international trade shows this summer. These shows featured the leading companies in the promotional products industry. At these shows she interacted with hundreds of companies and gained insightful knowledge about industry trends and innovations.

Marielle is from the Jersey Shore and couldn't imagine giving up her summers at the beach so in addition to her internship, she also works as a beach badge checker on the weekends.

And in addition to that, she has been busy preparing for Penn State Homecoming 2017. Marielle is the Public Relations Director for Homecoming 2017 and works alongside Natalie Scott (an ADPi sister and the Donor Relations Director for Homecoming 2017) to help and execute the largest student run Homecoming in the nation.

"I can't wait to get back to State and see all my sisters! I'm especially excited for football games and am incredibly excited to spend Homecoming Week with all our ADPIs past and present!"

Renee will be a senior in the fall, and this summer, she has a marketing internship with ITW-Buehler, who specializes in lab equipment and running lab samples in the Chicagoland area.

She says, "I'm basically just working on product launch with their new branding, graphic design and more. This year I am most looking forward to spending my final year at PSU with all of my friends and sisters and doing new things at school that I haven't done yet."

Cat Kelly who serves as RMVP of Delta Kappa will be a junior in the fall, and this summer she is working as a waitress at a restaurant called "Cafe Blue Moose" which she says has been her attempt at channeling her inner Food Network star and fueling her passion for food!

She is also working as a cart girl at her local golf course.

She says, "I am most excited to go back to PSU to see my friends, especially because I will be studying abroad in Barcelona my spring semester. It has been my dream since I was 15 to go to Barcelona, and I think everyone knows my feelings toward Hispanic culture, food, music, and the people. Words can't describe how excited and grateful I am to have the opportunity to fulfill the wishes I made when I was 15. Missing my sisters more than they know."

Orli will be a Junior in the fall, and this summer she traveled to Israel for two weeks with Aish Penn State!

"I listened to the most amazing Rabbis speak and visited many different places in the country."

Now, Orli is in Cuba traveling on the western part with CHANCE Penn State.

She says, "We are conducting policy based research projects about sustainability and conservation. I'll be busy saving sea turtles and learning about Cuba's rich biodiversity."

Kate will be a senior in the fall, and this summer she spent 7 weeks studying abroad in Florence, Italy. She was able to observe an Italian kindergarten class and learn about the Italian education system!

She says, "I also traveled to other cities in Italy as well as Amsterdam and Greece. It was an eye opening experience to be in another country for so long!"

Now she is spending her summer working at a dog groomers playing with puppies and working at a daycare!

"I'm looking forward to taking what I learned about the Italian education system and bringing it into my future educational practices during my semester of student teaching."

Rachel Sullivan will be a Junior in the fall, and this summer she is working for Ocean State Veterinary Specialists as a technician's assistant. Through this position, she helps with the completion of patients' treatments as well as prepares for incoming triage and stat cases through the ER. Some of her duties include animal restraint, assistance with treatment plans, and basic care and maintenance of the hospital floor.

She says, "I plan to go to veterinary school following my four years at Penn State, and I can't wait for this upcoming school year, especially THON in which I now have a leadership role."

Sarah Snyder will be a senior in the fall. She is from Pennsylvania but received the opportunity to work in Fort Myers, Florida this summer in the finance department of a medical company!

She says, "I am spending these months expanding my knowledge in business and exploring my new home!"

Sarah is a professional photographer back in Pennsylvania, so she is spending her free time shooting around the South West Florida area, volunteering at a local church, checking out the islands, and making a ton of new friends!

"I’m absolutely loving it so far and am so excited for the months to come!"

Kait Miller will be a junior in the fall, and this summer she is interning at her local radio station, WCBC in Cumberland, Maryland.

At her internship, she has the chance to record on-air advertisements, write stories for daily newscasts along with features for morning sports, and attend meetings of local politicians (county commissioner, city council, etc.).

She says, "I also get to broadcast live once a week on the Dapper Dan Little League baseball games as a color commentator which has been my favorite part.

"I am so excited to get back to State and hangout on the floor and around campus with my sisters!"

What an awesome opportunity, Kait! We can't wait to see ya back at school!
