From acting on stage to working behind the scenes, Andrew Briseno ’27 loves every part of theatre. This summer, he interned with Broadway Dallas through the Meadows Intern Fellowship Program, helping with theatre camps and a student production of “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” Now, he’s bringing that experience back to Meadows for this fall’s Theatre productions!

This week’s Alumni Spotlight is Joshua L. Peugh (B.F.A. ’06), choreographer and stage director! ✨

Joshua arrived at Meadows envisioning a future primarily in ballet, but while double majoring in dance and English, he discovered new forms of movement and opportunities to develop his own work. Today, he brings those interests together, blending dance, theatre and literature to reimagine classic stories for the stage, with recent and upcoming adaptations of “The Tempest” and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”

“My time at Meadows helped me take off my blinders. I arrived at SMU with a narrow vision of myself as a classical ballet dancer, but over four years I discovered so many other beautiful and exciting forms of dance.”

This week's Alumni Spotlight is Olivia Smith (B.F.A. ’11)! From experimenting at Meadows to championing artists in New York City, Olivia Smith has built a career rooted in creativity, collaboration and artistic discovery. As co-founder and partner of Magenta Plains, Smith represents 20 artists and works with collectors, curators and institutions around the world.

“Meadows promoted a culture of experimentation, poetic inquiry, delight in mystery, and associative thinking that catapulted my self-confidence as an artist," Smith says.
