Member Spotlight: Caitlyn’s Radio Show!

“I only recently started hosting a radio show with WDCE, but it has been a great learning experience and a new way for me to be involved on campus. I love giving music suggestions to people and music is a way I have bonded with many of my friends. I learned about WDCE through my many friends who invitied us to their shows, and I found the opportunity to have my own show exciting. I hosted Ça Dépends with my roommate last semester, which was a great way to bond and share music, and over this summer I am hosting Strawberry Jams every saturday at 4!”

Member Spotlight: Savannah’s Debate Skills!

“I’ve been competing in speech and debate since 7th grade. I’ve had the opportunity to go to nationals twice, be the captain of my highschool team, and I was recently elected president of the speech and debate team here at UR. Speech and debate has allowed me to get out of my comfort zone, advocate for free speech, and meet some truly amazing people! It’s been an important part of my personal and academic development, and I’m incredibly greatful to my coaches and fellow students who’ve made it so special!”

Member Spotlight: Callia is an EMT!!

“As an EMT with UREMS, I respond to medical emergencies in 24-hour call shifts and even stand-by at spider football and basketball games to ensure the safety of our campus community! UREMS has given me some amazing friends, honed my passion for emergency medicine, and has been an exciting part of my journey as a pre-med student here at UR! I always say I have the coolest job ever!”

“I’m currently studying abroad at the University of Otago in New Zealand. I’m taking a fun variety of environmental and geography classes including water management class and a geography research class where my group is investigating students’ food experiences. While abroad, I’ve also participated in the Green Spider Program run by UR’s Office of Sustainability where I’ve been exploring how New Zealand balances cultural, environmental, and economic values within tourism. In my free time, I’ve been exploring NZ, and have seen a variety of wildlife including kiwi, takahē, baby albatross, and sea lions!”
