We recently completed a restack/rewind on a 1,375 kVA 2,300 volt generator. Our team rewound both the stator and rotor, upgrading its capacity to 1,500 kVA, replaced the insulation and tape, and cleaned the unit, to help ensure that this repair can stand the test of time. From minor repairs to complete overhauls and redesigns, Smith Services™ offers unique, custom solutions tailored to your facility’s needs. We recently redesigned and repaired a 4,800 hp armature to help improve efficiency and reduce downtime. One of the two circuits in the parallel circuit system failed, resulting in an imbalance, eventually causing the electric motor to fail. Upon inspection, the armature could only be repaired when all bolts and iron in the stack were removed.
We delivered a solution that not only repaired the armature but also redesigned part of the system to enable more efficient maintenance. Future repairs will no longer require complete removal of all bolts and iron from the stack, reducing repair time, material usage, and overall cost.
