We are excited to announce that the Federalist Society and SBA have partnered together to bring in Former Attorney General Doug Peterson. He will be coming this week on Thursday, March 23rd at noon in room 122. Doug Peterson was the 33rd Attorney General of Nebraska. In his tenure, he combated human trafficking and led efforts to combat opioid addiction. Peterson is a strong advocate for victims’ rights and protecting the state’s agricultural industry.

On Thursday, Peterson will be discussing his life and career focusing on his public service along with state and local matters. He will likely compare his role as a private attorney versus an attorney general. If you are interested in a career in public service or government, then you will definitely find his talk of interest!

Creighton FedSoc is excited to announce that this Thursday, February 23rd, we will be hosting Douglas County Sheriff Aaron Hanson. Over the noon hour, Sheriff Hanson will be speaking about a variety of topics, mainly his career, human trafficking in Omaha, and 2nd Amendment issues.

The event will be in room 120 from 12:00-1:00 pm. If you have a class that overlaps, feel free to come whenever your class lets out! There will be pizza!

JOIN US THIS Wednesday, November 2nd, at NOON in RM 123! We will be hosting UNL Professor Richard Duncan, who will be presenting on "The Masks of the Law: What comes after Roe and Dobbs?" And, of course, there will be FREE PIZZA!

Throughout history, legislatures have used “masks” to dehumanize populations to make the scrubbing away of individual liberties easier to swallow. Professor Duncan will be discussing examples of this along with specific instances of it occurring in case law. He will tie this theory into a discussion of Roe v. Wade and the recent Dobbs decision.

JOIN FedSoc, the J. Reuben Clark Society, and the St. Thomas More Society this coming Monday the 10th at NOON for a LUNCH, LAWYERS, AND LIBERTY with Creighton's very own PROFESSOR MANGRUM!

Professor Mangrum will speak about the recent Supreme Court case Kennedy v. Bremerton School District, and its impact on Religious Liberties. The case was about a football coach who prayed on the field after games.

And of course, FREE PIZZA will be provided. We hope to see you all there!

The Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies is a group of conservatives and libertarians interested in the current state of the legal order. It is founded on the principles that the state exists to preserve freedom, that the separation of governmental powers is central to our Constitution, and that it is emphatically the province and duty of the judiciary to say what the law is, not what it should be.
