Hristo Chipilski, an assistant professor in the FSU - Department of Scientific Computing and FSU Data Science Program, has received National Science Foundation (NSF) funding to improve nighttime thunderstorm forecasts, research that will help forecasters and communities better prepare for dangerous weather.

To learn more about how Chipilski will accurately model nighttime thunderstorms — which often depend on complex atmospheric conditions that are more difficult for weather models to predict than daytime storms — visit: fla.st/HX0QBSEK.
