“I really valued growing as a researcher in an environment that felt so welcoming and supportive. SPIN helped foster a strong sense of community that kept me motivated throughout my project. Getting to share my own progress and learn about my peers’ fascinating research—from extrapolating a much broader field of view from a single camera perspective to testing cutting-edge quantum encryption techniques—was easily one of the highlights of my summer.” - Sophia Moylan, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign student and SPIN participant

NCSA’s student research programs highlight student innovation, mentorship and campus connections.

“This experience helped me grow academically, professionally and personally, while also increasing my confidence in my ability to contribute to research. I believe this opportunity would be especially valuable for students from communities like mine because it can expose them to possibilities they may not have known existed and inspire them to pursue careers in agriculture, technology and research.” - Scedric Jackson, 2026 CDA REU participant

Students in the Center for Digital Agriculture Research Experience for Undergraduates learned what collaboration looks like at a research-driven university.

NCSA is one of five institutions assisting a new national initiative headed by UCLA to create iDLab, "a unified environment for research computing, data and scientific applications across several U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)-supported national computing centers and two cloud platforms.”

“Joining this new venture of the iDLab aligns seamlessly with the mission of Delta, DeltaAI and NCSA to bring advanced computing resources to the whole of the research community,” said Brett Bode, deputy project director for Delta and DeltaAI, and iDLab co-principal investigator. “We’re excited to work with our colleagues at UCLA and the other supercomputing centers to provide researchers with an intuitive and interactive tool to push innovation and strengthen their work.”
