SUNY Westchester Community College is pleased to announce that effective Tuesday, June 23, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐋𝐚𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭-𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐫 will serve as SUNY WCC’s Interim Vice President for Workforce Development and Community Education (WDCE) as VP Tere Wisell begins retirement following 32 years of exemplary service at the College.

Dr. Hamlett-Carver joined SUNY WCC in February 2020 as WDCE’s Division Coordinator. In May 2023, she was promoted to Assistant Dean of Workforce Development.

During her tenure at SUNY WCC, Dr. Hamlett-Carver has provided strategic leadership for workforce development initiatives, grant-funded programming and employer and community partnerships. She has worked collaboratively with colleagues across college divisions and with external partners to develop responsive education and training aligned with labor market demands and in support of the vast diversity of learners across our region. LaTasha has been an active contributor to college wide initiatives such as strategic planning, governance, accreditation and enrollment management.

Dr. Hamlett-Carver holds an Ed. D. in Executive Leadership from St. John Fisher University; an M.S. and B.A. in Communications from the College of New Rochelle.

Did you just launch a business and are looking for seed funding? SUNY Westchester will host the LevelUp! Pitch Challenge on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Early-stage business owners will have the opportunity to compete for vital seed funding to grow their business.

To Qualify:
✔️ Businesses would have to be in operation for 6 months to 2 years.
✔️ Complete the online application (incomplete applications will automatically be disqualified).
✔️ Attend pitch prep workshops.

Newly established businesses will have the opportunity to pitch for one of three prizes:
$6,000 — First Place
$4,000 — Second Place
$2,000 — Third Place
