⚓🇲🇽 A group of Cal Poly Maritime Academy students took full advantage of a unique opportunity when the ARM Cuauhtémoc, a 300-foot-long, three-masted Mexican Navy training ship docked in San Francisco for a four-day goodwill visit.

Free deck and rigging tours were offered at The Embarcadero (Piers 15 and 17) which drew large crowds that waited multiple hours to explore the vessel. 🇲🇽 ⚓

Thank you Susan Lao and Aquarius, Abigail Hernandez and Ballet Folklórico, and vocalist Senen Bagos Jr. for your respective performances, and to Macel Santos for leading workshops to benefit students and campus community.

🚀⚓ Victor Glover Experiences Learn by Doing — Maritime Style!

From outer space to the waterfront! 🌎🚢

NASA astronaut and Cal Poly alumnus Victor Glover visited the Cal Poly Maritime Academy, getting a firsthand look at how our cadets put Learn by Doing into action.

From morning formation with the Corps of Cadets to exploring our state-of-the-art ship simulators and touring Training Ship Golden Bear, Glover experienced the traditions, technology and hands-on training that prepare the next generation of maritime leaders.

🌊 Different missions. Same spirit of exploration.

Oceanography and Natural Sciences Department alumni and students are attending the biennial Bay-Delta Science Conference this week. The conference event brings together more than 1,000 scientists and policymakers who work on the science and management of the San Francisco Estuary. Students from Cal Poly Maritime's OcNS program (part of the Bailey College community by the way!) presented their research and networked with alumni and others.

From left to right, Morgan Illman (Oceanography, ’24), Nicolle Gomez, OcNS Chair Dr. Alex Parker, Gino McDonnell, and Dominic Terrusa (Oceanography, ’25).
