Touro University California

Touro University California Inspirational teaching and scholarship, transformative leadership, exemplary service. More than 19,000 students are currently enrolled.

Touro University California is a 44-acre campus located on Mare Island in Vallejo, offering professional programs in osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, public health, diagnostic medical sonography, radiography, and nursing. All programs are fully accredited and provide a wide range of career opportunities and professional challenges. Established in 1997, Touro offers outs

tanding curricular programs and thousands of networking opportunities for students so they can intern with state-of-the-art facilities throughout California and the nation. Our low student-to-faculty ratio coupled with an open-door policy for faculty, make it one of the friendliest universities for graduate programs. Our private, nonprofit institution was founded on a caring Judaic tradition, which values the pursuit of knowledge and service to humanity. Faculty, staff and students have a powerful commitment to academic excellence, evidence-based professional practice, interdisciplinary collaboration and active engagement with a global community. Our values are evident in classroom, laboratory and research settings, community clinics and off-campus rotations. The university mission of Educating Caring Professionals โ€œTo Serve, To Lead, and To Teachโ€ is more than words on paper - the mission is a real, visible and interactive experience. Touro College, now Touro University, was established in 1971 to enrich the Jewish heritage, and to serve the larger American community.

๐ŸŒŸ Mosaic Scholarship Recipient Alumni Spotlight!๐ŸŒŸ

"Hi, my name is William Okerblom, and I graduated from TUC College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2023.

I have just completed my Internal Medicine residency at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, and Iโ€™m planning to return to my hometown of Santa Maria to practice Primary Care.

With the high cost of medical training, the Mosaic Scholarship has been tremendously helpful to me. It has allowed me to feel more comfortable entering Primary Care where the need is substantial but the pay can often be less than for specialists.

I cannot thank the donors enough for their generosity, and I wish you all the best."

"I completed the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Touro University California in 2019. Since then, I went on to complete a PGY1 in pediatrics at Stanford Medicine Children's Health Lucile Packard (Hospital) and a PGY2 in infectious diseases at UC Davis Medical Center. I currently work and love my role as an Infectious Disease Senior Pharmacist at UC Davis Medical Center.

The Mosaic Scholarship was instrumental in helping me fund my pharmacy training and allowed me the opportunity to pursue specialized training post-graduation.

It also allowed me the time to explore various extracurriculars, such as research and volunteer work, instead of working a job to fund my tuition. These extracurricular activities provided me with an important skill set that I still use today.

Thank you to all the donors and potential donors for this scholarship. Your contributions are highly appreciated and impactful."

With your support, more students can follow the path that leaders like Dr. Helen Berhane once did through the Mosaic Scholarships.

๐ŸŒŸ Meet Dr. Colleen M. McGuire (DO Class of 2008), whose passion for expanding access to mental health care is changing lives across the country.

Inspired by her late father, a psychiatrist, Dr. McGuire founded her own psychiatry practice and now holds licenses in 20 states, allowing her to provide virtual care to patients in rural and underserved communities throughout the U.S.

Read her inspiring story here:

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I spent a portion of my childhood in St. Kitts, where my father was studying monkeys. I moved to Denver in 1999 to go to vet school, though it turned out I was better with people than animals, so I decided to go to Osteopathic Medicine School at Touro University...
