We help writers at the University of South Dakota. The University Writing Center offers one-on-one help with writing.

Students, staff, and faculty at the University of South Dakota can schedule appointments of one half hour or an hour. They can get help with all forms of writing, from essays and reports to short stories and grants, from résumés and cover letters to personal statements for graduate school.

Hello everyone, and welcome back to campus after a well‑deserved winter break! We hope you’re feeling recharged and ready to dive into the new semester.
As you settle back into classes, remember to stop by the Writing Center and take advantage of our free resources designed to support your academic success. Our writing consultants are excited to work with you, offer guidance, and help strengthen your writing at any stage of the process.
We’re also continuing our weekly workshop series, beginning next Wednesday with Short Fiction: Close Reading and Thesis Generation. These workshops are open to all students — no matter your major or year — and offer valuable skills for everyone.

Hey everyone! Just hang in there, we're almost to Thanksgiving break🦃 If you have any last-minute adjustments you need to make on your writing assignments, please come in! We can help you get everything finished up before we close up for the week. There is obviously no workshop this Wednesday due to the campus being closed, but our consultants will still be available before the break officially starts😁

We hope that everyone had a good weekend! Hopefully you were able to stay warm in the snow and cold temps❄️ This is just a quick announcement that we will be closed on Tuesday as there is no school for Veterans Day. Otherwise we will be open for our typical hours and we also have a workshop on Wednesday this week titled “Writing Graduate and Professional School Applications” so if you need help with those things please attend!
