🌍✈️ Interested in global development, social justice, and meaningful service-learning? Join Binghamton University’s Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) Study Abroad Program in Malawi 🇲🇼 for Summer 2027!

Spend 2.5 weeks working alongside local communities, learning from the Malawi Children’s Mission, and exploring sustainable development through an asset-based approach that focuses on community strengths 🤝🌱

📚 Open to students from all majors and at both undergraduate and graduate levels
🌍 Learn about social work, international development, NGOs, social justice, and African history
🏘️ Engage with rural communities and local leaders
💡 Gain hands-on experience in community-based development

Have questions about getting started? No problem! Stop by our Hybrid Drop-in Advising Hours over the summer Monday-Thursday from 3:30pm via zoom (zoom room linked below) or in-person in Old Champlain 240. Friday’s Drop-in Advising is also from 1-3:30pm but on zoom only.

Once you’re back on campus, also consider attending our Fall 2026 Education Abroad Fair which will take place on Thursday, September 3 from 2:30-5:30pm in the Mandela Room.

Welcome back from Spring Break, Bearcats!!!

Interested in spending your next Spring Break overseas? 🌏🛩️

The IEGI is excited to share that we will offer the Spain: Contemporary Spain Through its Multicultural Heritage program for Spring Break 2027! 🇪🇸Students on this program spend 10 days exploring the 4 unique Spanish cities: Madrid, Toledo, Granada, and Cordoba!

Spanish language fluency should equal two and a half years of university-level instruction and must have completed SPAN 241, 249, or 251 in advance of the course starting.

Want to learn more? Stop by the Spring Break Spain 2027 info session on April 13, 2026 at 12pm in LN 2206. Come chat with the 2 faculty leaders Nahed Nadia Noureddine and Cristina Nava-Wilson and the program advisor Ryane about program details and next steps!

The program application is expected to open in May 2026 and close on October 1, 2026.

✨✈️OPEN APPLICATION ALERT!!✈️✨

Spend two and a half weeks this summer in the region of Blantyre in Malawi engaging in service learning with the through an asset-based community development approach! 🇲🇼 On this faculty-led program, students will participate in afterschool programming for youth, engage with families and caregivers at the Malawi Children’s Mission, and experience cultural immersion activities.

Applications are open now with an application deadline of March 1st!
