Masters and Doctoral Programs available to pursue a career as a Licensed Practitioner of Acupuncture. The Virginia University of Integrative Medicine (VUIM) is institutionally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) in 2015. The university offers Master of Science in Acupuncture (MSA) and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) degree programs

in English, Korean, and Chinese. In 2017, the university started offering the Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) Program - enrolling its first DAOM cohort in July 2017. The mission of VUIM is to produce educated health care practitioners highly skilled in acupuncture and oriental medicine, trained to provide the community with affordable healthcare services while fostering the growth and practice of acupuncture and oriental medicine. Diverse and inclusive, VUIM serves the state of Virginia, Maryland, New York, and the United States of America by developing responsible complementary healthcare professionals capable of communicating effectively, disseminating the knowledge gained through the institution’s programs, and providing world-class patient care.

VUIM was proud to support the Face of America ride! Our team offered ear seeds to participants and spectators along the 110‑mile journey honoring Veterans and First Responders.

Our VUIM team had a wonderful time providing ear seed treatments for employees at the Library of Congress. This year’s event, held inside the historic James Madison Memorial Building in Washington, DC, was another great success. It marks VUIM’s second year partnering with the Library of Congress, and we look forward to continuing this collaboration by offering wellness education and treatment to their employees.

Congratulations to VUIM alum Dr. Tammy Beard, awarded the SAR GLO‑IMPACT Scholarship for advanced oncology acupuncture training with Memorial Sloan Kettering. We’re incredibly proud of her commitment to evidence‑based cancer care. The GLO‑IMPACT program, created by the Society for Acupuncture Research in partnership with MSK, expands access to specialized training in treating cancer‑related pain using evidence‑informed acupuncture protocols, strengthening the future of integrative oncology.

VUIM volunteers supported the annual Inova Peterson Life with Cancer fundraiser, helping raise more than $1.5 million in donations and raffle contributions for vital patient programs. Our volunteers worked alongside the Life with Cancer team and community partners to welcome over 1,100 attendees to the event.
