Virginia University of Integrative Medicine Accredited Acupuncture University. Campuses in Virginia, New Jersey, and Georgia. Serving the community through Acupuncture and Whole Health Clinics.

Masters and Doctoral Programs available to pursue a career as a Licensed Practitioner of Acupuncture. The Virginia University of Integrative Medicine (VUIM) is institutionally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) in 2015. The university offers Master of Science in Acupuncture (MSA) and Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) degree programs in English, Korean, and Chinese. In 2017, the university started offering the Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) Program - enrolling its first DAOM cohort in July 2017. The mission of VUIM is to produce educated health care practitioners highly skilled in acupuncture and oriental medicine, trained to provide the community with affordable healthcare services while fostering the growth and practice of acupuncture and oriental medicine. Diverse and inclusive, VUIM serves the state of Virginia, Maryland, New York, and the United States of America by developing responsible complementary healthcare professionals capable of communicating effectively, disseminating the knowledge gained through the institution’s programs, and providing world-class patient care.

Virginia University of Integrative Medicine is honored to be one of eight institutions to sign a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE Integrative Medicine Council (UAEIMC) at the Al Shifaa Summit for Integrative Medicine 2026, part of the 2026 Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit.

Together, these partnerships will advance education, research, and the integration of evidence-based integrative medicine into the healthcare ecosystem of the Emirates, Gulf Region and beyond.

This is a meaningful step in our mission to advance Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine education around the world. Thank you to the UAEIMC for their vision and leadership. We look forward to working together with the Council and our fellow MOU Signatories to shape the future of Integrative Medicine!

Day 4 in Abu Dhabi: a wonderful close to an unforgettable week! 🇦🇪🇺🇸

Today marked the final day of the Al Shifaa Summit for Integrative Medicine and the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit. Our CEO John Yoo, President Dr. Lao, VP of Operations James Lee, and Faculty Member Andrew Jang wrapped up the week with more great conversations.

This week, we met so many incredible people working to advance integrative medicine, from healthcare leaders and researchers to fellow educators and practitioners. We’re grateful for the meaningful connections we made and look forward to keeping in touch long after the Summit.

Day 3 in Abu Dhabi: taking the stage at the Al Shifaa Summit for Integrative Medicine! 🇦🇪🇺🇸

Today our President, Dr. Lao, and CEO John Yoo each spoke on separate panels at the Al Shifaa Summit for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Lao spoke on Building Competence in Integrative Medicine, and John spoke on Integrative Medicine Education.

It was a great opportunity to contribute to the conversation alongside leading institutions and experts from the UAE and around the world. Thank you to the organizers for including us!

Day 1 - VUIM in Abu Dhabi:

Our CEO John Yoo, VP of Operations James Lee, and Faculty Member Andrew Jang started the week at the Joint Kick-Off Reception for the 2026 Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit. The evening was presented by AmCham AbuDhabi and the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council and hosted by Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.

They had the opportunity to connect with leaders shaping the future of healthcare in the region and hearing from inspiring speakers.

🎉 What an incredible weekend! Dr. Yosun Hwang and our VUIM students had the pleasure of participating in the 2026 Korean Festival in Atlanta at Gwinnett Place Mall this past Saturday and Sunday. It was such a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, celebrate Korean culture, and share what we're all about — our school and clinic!
