The last 4-H General Show of the season is coming up next Thursday at the Metropolis Extension Office! We can't wait to see our exhibitors share the projects they've worked so hard on throughout the year.
Any AJMPU 4-H member is welcome to participate! We encourage youth to take advantage of these opportunities to showcase their skills, creativity, and accomplishments.

Time: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Larkin is the 2026 Summer Intern with the University of Illinois Extension, serving Alexander, Johnson, Massac, Pulaski, and Union counties. In this role, she highlights Extension programs and community initiatives through photography, videography, written communications, and social media.

Larkin creates content that connects community members to local programs including press releases and promotional materials, helping to raise an awareness and strengthen engagement across the five-county region.

She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Southern Illinois University- Carbondale, double-majoring in Early Childhood Education and Special Education, and holds an associate’s degree in Elementary Education from John A. Logan College.

Before joining Extension as an Intern, Larkin volunteered for many years and worked as an Extra Help Employee, gaining hands-on experience in supporting community outreach. This summer, she focuses on showcasing programs like 4-H Youth Development and community events, illustrating the impact of Extension in southern Illinois.

Jordi Oliver is Extra Help with the University of Illinois Extension, serving Alexander, Johnson, Massac, Pulaski, and Union counties. In this role, Jordi works to highlight Extension programs and community impact through photography, videography, social media, and written communications.
Jordi develops and shares content that connects community members to Extension programming, including press releases, event coverage, digital media, and promotional materials. Through this work, Jordi helps increase awareness of local programs and supports outreach efforts that strengthen community engagement across the region.
Jordi is currently a master’s student at the University of Illinois, studying Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications, and holds a bachelor’s degree in the same field. In addition to this role, Jordi serves as a teaching assistant at the University of Illinois, supporting student learning and engagement in the classroom.
Jordi began working with Illinois Extension as an intern and continues that work today, supporting the AJMPU unit during the summer months. Her work focuses on showcasing programs such as 4 H Youth Development, Natural Resources, and community events, helping to tell the story of how Extension serves southern Illinois.
Through creative communication and storytelling, Jordi supports Extension’s mission of education, connection, and community impact across the five-county region.

ATTENTION the 4-H Teen Leader Lake Day has been canceled. If you are from Vienna High School and have signed up for this event, please contact Leslie Bradley for further details. This event WILL take place, but has been changed to a Vienna High School Education Club Experience due to the fact no other schools have signed up to attend. We will try again in 2027 for a 4-H event!
