What is it like to study neuroscience in college?

For Chloe, it meant stepping into a research lab during her very first spring semester! 

Through Villanova’s First-Year Match program, Chloe joined Dr. Benjamin Schas’s neuroscience lab. There, she gained hands-on research experience and discovered what it’s like to contribute to real scientific research.

Before the semester wrapped up, Emma Thomas ‘26 showed her friend Bridget around the lab she’s been part of at Villanova.

Focusing on how cells process and regulate genetic information, this research helps explain how cells identify and break down faulty genetic material—work that could support future advances in medicine and treatment.
