Recent Villanova Law graduate Matthew Peipher '26 was presented with the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association James J. Manderino Award for Trial Advocacy for his outstanding achievement in the field. The award is named in memory of the late Speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, James Manderino, a brilliant orator and a renowned advocate. Presented annually, these awards honor outstanding law school graduates from the Philadelphia area who have demonstrated exceptional skill, advocacy and promise in the courtroom.

Congratulations to Lola Messick ’27, Dean Millard ’28 & Gavin Tamer ’26, who were recently awarded Pennsylvania Bar Association Criminal Justice Section scholarships, administered by the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation. The fund supports students and recent grads who are committed to pursuing a legal career in criminal justice.

In May, the Summer Study Abroad Program, in conjunction with the John F. Scarpa Center for Entrepreneurship and Law, took 21 students to Italy to immerse themselves in international legal perspectives. While there, students were enrolled in “Legal Issues Facing International Entrepreneurs: Italy’s Fashion Industry,” which explored the Italian legal system, labor and employment law in the fashion industry and a comparative analysis of legal systems in the European Union and the United States. Students also connected with Italian legal experts and visited local sites including the Armani Silos, Gucci, Prada and the Vatican.
