SNAP-Villanova's annual Unite for Sight brought traditional undergraduates, Second Degree Accelerated BSN students and faculty together for a day of service on October 2 at Central High School in Philadelphia.

Led by Carol Weingarten, PhD, RN, ANEF, and Gabriela Silva BSN ’28, and working alongside community partners, volunteers provided a record 1,007 vision screenings for local high school students and connected those needing follow-up care with resources and support.

Thank you to everyone who shared their time and compassion to connect students with vision care resources they might not otherwise receive.

Donna S. Havens, PhD, RN, FAAN, Connelly Endowed Dean and Professor, spent Fall Break in Ireland visiting our traditional undergraduate BSN students at SHU Di**le Ireland campus. The semester abroad brings new experiences in and beyond the classroom, enriching their nursing education and offering fresh perspectives on global health.

The Fitzpatrick College of Nursing proudly celebrates Assistant Professor Evie Lengetti, PhD, RN, NPD-BC, and Associate Professor Carol Weingarten, PhD, RN, ANEF, on their induction as Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing, one of the profession's highest honors. The ceremony took place during the Academy's annual Health Policy Conference, held October 8-10.

Induction into the Academy recognizes nursing leaders whose scholarship, practice and service have made significant and lasting contributions to advancing health care and improving health outcomes. Dr. Lengetti serves as associate dean of the Health Care Professional Development Program, and Dr. Weingarten is inaugural director of WXV&U Health, Villanova University Radio WXVU, 89.1.

We are grateful for their leadership, expertise and commitment to nursing education and the nursing profession, and we join the entire FCN community in celebrating this achievement.

During the Health Policy Conference, Professor Elizabeth Dowdell, PhD, RN, AFN-C, FAAN, contributed her cybersecurity expertise to the panel discussion, “Examining the ethical considerations and health risks associated with the rise of AI for key populations.”

Also inducted this year were alumni Dr. Eileen Condon '08 BSN, Dr. Jacquelyn McMillian-Bohler '17 PhD and Dr. Cynthia Rubenstein '10 PhD. Congratulations to all on this well-deserved recognition.

Congratulations to Michelle Kelly, PhD, CRNP, CNE, FAANP, FAAN, professor and co-director of the Mid-Atlantic Center for Children’s Health and the Environment; Maggie Brace, PhD, research assistant professor; and traditional undergraduate BSN students Caitlyn Ng and Kathryn King on publishing the first paper from their collaboration with the Adult Preemie Advocacy Network.
