Vincennes University - College of Humanities A dedicated space for the VU College of Humanities.

The Humanities Program at Vincennes University offers motivated and curious students the opportunity to develop a unique major around a specific research interest or idea. Consolidated as an interdisciplinary degree, VU students have the ability to pull together courses from across a number of university programs and concentrations and connect them under an overarching theme.

Professor Emeritus Bernard Hagedorn has recently designed, created, and installed the stainless steel sculpture located in front of the VU Health Sciences Building. “The Path of Enlightenment” represents a dialogue between a teacher and a student. The metal moves and flows together in an organic way, just as a figure would move in real space. It’s
21’ 8” tall and 14’ wide … 8’ deep and the material is all stainless steel.
A dedication ceremony will soon be announced. Make sure to check out this impressive work!

Professor Steve Black demonstrating chiaroscuro art (an Italian term meaning "light-dark") to Drawing I students. Strong contrasts between light and dark are used to give flat drawings and paintings a three-dimensional look.

Theatre and Education Trailblazer! Peter Hesselgrave is a future alum of our Theatre and Education programs with an AS in Theater and an AS in Secondary Education!

What is your favorite VU Memory?
“My favorite VU memories are all the programs I've been a part of, from big projects in the culinary department, to student teaching in education, to hands-on learning experiences for family and consumer sciences, and all the theater department shows I've had the pleasure to perform in and learn from. I am very grateful to all of the professors who I have been able to learn from.”

Congratulations, Peter!
