Craig Miller, Ph.D., (SBL '04) has spent decades serving others as a pastor, counselor, and educator. Along the way, he also overcame Stage 4 colon cancer and has completed marathons in all 50 states — and on five continents. His story is a living example of the multiplying impact of faithful investment in Christian higher education.

Regent University Athletics invites all to participate in the Royals Open golf tournament on Thursday, Oct. 1, to support the university’s student athletes, athletic programs, and future athletic facilities.

Held at the beautiful Virginia Beach National Golf Club, the event offers individuals and four-person teams an opportunity to participate in an 18-hole scramble, enter for a chance to win awards and prizes, and enjoy a meal with fellow golfers. Now in its fourth year, the tournament consistently builds community and support for Regent Athletics and has been a successful way to develop the program.

“We are excited about our upcoming fourth annual Royals Open golf tournament, as it has been exciting to see the growth of this event over the past three years,” said Michael W. Allen, Executive Director of Athletics at Regent University. “From individual participants to volunteers that help the event flow smoothly, and of course, our sponsors and their support, God has no doubt blessed us.”

The fundraiser directly benefits and supports Regent Royals student athletes, from providing additional meals and team gear to upgrading transportation. With additional funding, Regent Athletics can charter buses more frequently, meeting a great need as the department continues to grow. Every gift made through the Royals Open helps ensure Regent’s athletes have what they need to compete, travel, and thrive both on and off the field.

Regent’s 2026 Royals Open will take place on Thursday, October 1, at Virginia Beach National Golf Club, located at 2500 Tournament Drive in Virginia Beach. Registration will take place from 10:20 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., and the shotgun start will begin at 12:30 p.m. Dinner will be provided to all golfers at the conclusion of play.
