⚡ Staying relevant means staying connected to the industry.

Electrical Lineworker instructors and students spent Oct. 14 at Texas-New Mexico Power’s Annual Safety Day, getting a firsthand look at the safety practices and expectations that shape linework in the field.

Students Garrett Dildy and Nicholas Fischer joined instructors Rodney Deleon, Dwain Love and Jason Hitchcock for hands-on activities, industry conversations and a closer look at TNMP as a potential employer.

Experiences like this help students connect what they learn at TSTC to the work waiting for them after graduation, and keep their skills relevant as the industry evolves.

Brilliant bites, but no passport is required. 👑

TSTC’s student-operated restaurant at the Greta W. Watson Culinary Arts Center will serve the British Pub menu on Wednesday, Oct. 28, and Friday, Oct. 30.

The restaurant is at the corner of 8th Street and Campus Drive. The restaurant is open to the public, but reservations are required. Meals will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on select Wednesdays and Fridays during the semester.

To make a reservation, go to the Culinary Arts menu webpage and fill out the Google form. The form allows people to make reservations on their preferred days for eight people or less. People making reservations will be contacted by email once they are accepted. Changes will not be allowed to reservations the week of serving dates. If nine or more people plan to dine, the request needs to be sent to [email protected].

TSTC’s Waco campus hosted more than 90 high school students from as far away as Lubbock and Victoria for the Electrical Showcase held Thursday, Oct. 15.

Students were treated to a riveting morning learning more about the Electrical Construction, Electrical Power and Controls, Electrical Lineworker and Management, and Instrumentation programs.

Electricity makes the modern world function – and Texas needs the next generation to power its prosperity.

This was the two-day fall Industry Job Fair at Texas State Technical College’s Waco campus! 🎓✨ In fact, so many students and alumni showed up early that the entrance line extended across Campus Drive.

For Day 1 of TSTC's fall Industry Job Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 13, the parking lot was packed and the line stretched across Campus Drive toward the Student Services Center at the Waco campus. 🚗

More than 720 students and alumni stopped by the student recreation center to meet employers hiring the future workforce of Texas. Job and internship seekers learned what each company does and the opportunities available. Some employers even conducted interviews on the spot, while others chatted with candidates and handed out some great swag. 🎉

When it comes to fulfilling the needs of Texas’s workforce, our job is making sure our students find prosperity, no matter what program they come from. That’s why we are The Texas Standard. 🧡

The job fair continues for our students and alumni on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

The TSTC Foundation proudly received a $10,000 financial gift from the PNM|TNMP Foundation on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Waco campus. The funding will go toward 10 Buckingham EZ Squeeze Fall Safeties, industry-standard fall protection lanyards essential for elevated lineworker training.

Funding will also be used for a one-time scholarship for a student demonstrating financial need.

TSTC thanks the organization, which is the philanthropic arm of Texas-New Mexico Power, for their generous support.

It is Bavarian tradition meeting Central Texas appetites!

The Germany menu is being served on Wednesday, Oct. 21, and Friday, Oct. 23, at TSTC’s student-operated restaurant at the Greta W. Watson Culinary Arts Center.
