Baylor University Army ROTC

Baylor University Army ROTC We produce 2nd Lieutenants for the U.S. Army, Army Reserve and National Guard. We commissioned our first graduate in December of 2010.

Baylor Army ROTC opened its doors in November 2008, with just a handful of Cadets and two cadre members. In the past five years of full operation, the program has grown to over 95 Cadets trained by seven full-time cadre and one human resource administrator. Baylor Army ROTC not only services students here at Baylor University, but at McLennan Community College and Tarleton State University's Waco

campus as well. If you are interested in becoming a Baylor Army ROTC Cadet, please contact CPT Shenika Lewis at 254-710-3134.

This past Thursday, Baylor University had the privilege of hosting 5th Brigade Commander, Colonel Decker. He provided amazing insight on how to succeed as a leader, what Cadet Command will look like moving forward, and the importance of servant leadership. Three of our cadets received coins for their outstanding performance this summer.

We also recognized our first Cadet of the Week, MSIII CDT Woo!

Fall 26 RSOI in the books!

Our MS1s and MS2s started the day with various team building exercises and the “leap of faith” out at Baylor’s o-course! While they were getting after it, our seniors gave the MS3s an initial familiarization to CST.

The next part of the day included a Cadre introduction and an alumni panel. Cadets were able to hear from 20 active duty and reserve officers with 5-10 years of experience in the Army. Thank you to the alumni that traveled all the way to Waco or called in to provide guidance about what being an officer in the Army entails!

One of the best parts of being at Baylor Army ROTC for 15 years is getting to see where our cadets go after they leave us. 💚💛🐻🇺🇸

This week, several of our Baylor Army ROTC alumni came back to speak to our current cadets during Zero Week, and they made a special trip by the office to visit me. ❤️ Some of these guys graduated almost 10 years ago, so having them all standing in my office again was definitely one of those “Where did the time go?” moments!

I’ve watched so many cadets walk through these doors over the years graduate, commission, build careers and lives, and then come back to pour into the next generation. Seeing them again and hearing about where life has taken them is one of the things that makes my job so special.

Fifteen years at Baylor Army ROTC, and moments like these are why the years mean so much. I may be just a little partial, but once you’re one of our cadets, you’re always part of the Baylor Army ROTC family. 💚💛

So proud of this group and so thankful they stopped by to see me! Sic ’Em! 🐻🇺🇸

Day 2 of RSOI✅

Bear Battalion started our morning with a formation run and a speech about Baylor’s two Medal of Honor recipients, U.S. Army Air Corps Colonel John Riley Kane (Class of 1928) and U.S. Marine Corps First Lieutenant Andrew Jackson “Jack” Lummus Jr. (Class of 1941).

We then moved into a period of briefs over standards & procedures, educational delay, and met the Battalion leadership.

Stay tuned for Day 3!

Day 1 of RSOI complete!

Bear Battalion started off the year with a team building exercise to get the new cadets familiarized with Warrior Tasks and Skills. This included a medical lane, hand gr***de assault course, and weapons familiarization.
