The Department of Anthropology at Baylor University seeks a permanent full-time lecturer (non-tenure track) to teach four courses per fall/spring semesters in a thriving forensic science minor effective August 1, 2027. (January 1, 2027, start date is preferred). The ideal candidate will contribute to multiple courses in the current curriculum (see Forensic Science Minor | Baylor University Academic Catalog), serve as an advisor to the student forensic society, and mentor undergraduate students on research projects who have interests in forensic science. This appointment is a renewable 9-month full-time, benefits-eligible, teaching-focused position with a 6-year promotion path to Senior Lecturer for successful candidates and a 12-year promotion path to Teaching Professor for highly successful candidates (see: Policy on Full-Time Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University). But our newest faculty member, Duncan Stibbard Hawkes, has found that while people are often generous, "taking" is sometimes more important than "giving".

Congratulation to one of our newest grad students My Linh Huynh-Lucero who has secured a highly competitive NSF GRFP award, recognizing outstanding graduate students in STEM. This year there was only a 5% acceptance rate in the life sciences, so very well done My Linh.

Garrett Cook and John Shaver were honored to receive a military challenge coin from Anthropology major Cyrus Cellers. This is an honor from the military community and reflects the appreciation student veterans have for the support, mentorship, and dedication of faculty to veterans at Baylor.

It's student research week at Baylor and there has been a great showing from Anthropology students, with posters and talks exploring topics as diverse as cortisol, zoonoses, healthcare, decomposition and bone weathering!

Yet *more* Baylor anthropology successes from Denver! Marcela Pfaff-Nash won the EAS student podium presentation award for her talk "Intestinal energy loss among Indigenous Shuar children of Amazonian Ecuador" at the HBA/EAA meeting. The talk was a labor of love, and it's so nice seeing it pay off!
