University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering Farm Tractor Safety Certification Courses, recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and required for 14–15-year-olds operating equipment off their family farm. At three locations this April and May:
Gorham – starts April 7
Sidney – starts April 13

Tractor Safety Training Offered This Spring 🌱🚜

University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering Farm Tractor Safety Certification Courses at three locations this April and May:

πŸ“ Gorham – starts April 7
πŸ“ Sidney – starts April 13
πŸ“ Turner – starts April 27

This 5-week course includes classroom learning, hands-on tractor driving, and take-home assignments. It’s recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and required for 14–15-year-olds operating equipment off their family farm.

Participants will learn how to safely operate tractors, avoid hazards, and reduce the risk of accidents. Certification is awarded upon successful completion of written and driving tests.

The 4-H Ag Ambassador Program offers exciting opportunities for teens ages 13–18 to explore careers in agriculture, build leadership skills, and connect with others across the state. No prior 4-H experience is required β€” all Maine youth are welcome to get involved.
Starting April 29, youth participate in a mix of virtual and in-person experiences, including farm visits, hands-on learning, and conversations with industry professionals. Participants also serve as ambassadors, exploring areas like livestock, food systems, environmental stewardship, and more. Info and registration at the link. ⬇️

This training is for 4-H volunteers wishing to become certified 4-H Shooting Sports instructors in the archery discipline. Participants will spend time in the classroom and on the shooting range learning risk management as well as practices to teach hands-on techniques to youth. Register below ⬇️
