Central Georgia Technical College offers affordable and convenient options close to home for earning college and high school credit simultaneously. All students entering 9th-12th grade can take transferable degree-level courses and /or occupational college courses while in high school.

What happens when high school students start preparing for a career in Fire Science while they’re still in high school?

They don’t just earn a diploma—they start earning college credentials, career skills and valuable experience. 🎓🔥

This year’s Fire Science Dual Enrollment class includes seniors from Bibb County School District, Jones County High School Gray, GA and Houston County School District, giving these students an incredible opportunity to learn both in the classroom and in the field.

🏫 Students take classes at Hutchings College & Career Academy and train at the Macon-Bibb Fire Academy.

And here’s what makes this opportunity so powerful:

🎓 High school credit
🎓 College credit
🚒 Firefighter I Technical Certificate of Credit from CGTC

That means these students are working toward their high school education while simultaneously building a foundation for a future career in the fire service.

🚍 Transportation to the Fire Academy is provided by the Bibb County School District, helping make this hands-on training accessible to participating students.

Yesterday, the students dressed out as part of their training—and we couldn’t be more excited to see them taking this next step toward their future! 🔥👨‍🚒👩‍🚒

We were honored to have Central Georgia Technical College represented at the Perry Area Chamber of Commerce Business at Breakfast, where we had the opportunity to share how CGTC is partnering with businesses throughout our footprint to create meaningful opportunities for students, employers, and the communities we serve.

A special thank-you to the Perry Chamber of Commerce for creating spaces where education and business can connect, collaborate, and turn conversations into action. These connections are more than networking—they are the foundation for partnerships and projects that make a lasting difference in Houston County.

Over the past two days, Central Georgia Technical College Dual Enrollment Division had the privilege of hosting outstanding high school students from Jones County participating in the Jones County STEAM Camp.

While many students are enjoying their summer vacation, these future leaders invested their time exploring hands-on careers, developing new skills, and discovering the exciting educational opportunities available at CGTC.

Their initiative, curiosity, and commitment to personal growth are exactly what tomorrow's workforce needs.

From engineering and automation to drone technology and career readiness, these students took meaningful steps toward building a successful future—and we couldn't be prouder of their dedication.

🎓✨ Celebrating 33 outstanding Dual Enrollment Degree Completers through our partnership with Georgia College Early College!

These incredible students — primarily from Baldwin High School along with several from Putnam County High School — have achieved a major milestone by earning their degrees while still in high school. Their hard work, determination, and commitment to academic excellence are paving the way for bright futures ahead.

CGTC is proud to partner with Georgia College in creating opportunities that empower students to accelerate their education, save on college costs, and prepare for successful careers and continued academic achievement. Congratulations to each of these students on this remarkable accomplishment! 👏💙

The Peach County High/CGTC dual enrollment students have completed the Phlebotomy program, which is a new program at PCHS!

Students started their coursework in summer 2025 and finished the Phlebotomy Technology certificate with the college spring semester, as well as completing the pathway for the high school.

Students had to complete 50 successful sticks to complete the program. Congratulations to these amazing students for their hard work and dedication! Their instructor is Ms. Liana Keys, who is pictured far right.
