Today, the Student Union is grieving the loss of someone who was a truly meaningful part of our community.
Bailey was a rare example of what it means to be inclusive and kind to others, regardless of who they are, their age, or status. He was friendly and kind to everyone, and always stayed true to himself. His smile was contagious, and you couldn’t walk away from a conversation with Bailey without feeling a little lighter and happier than before. He had a way of making people feel welcome and bringing joy wherever he went.
To those of us who had the privilege of working with him, Bailey was so much more than a student employee. He was a friend, a teammate, and someone who brought warmth and energy to everything he was a part of. He brought that energy to every event he served at, along with all the creativity and fun he brought to the marketing team. He was an important part of what made our Student Union feel like the Student Union, and his presence will be deeply missed.
We are heartbroken by his passing, and we know many in our campus community are hurting as well. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, classmates, coworkers, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing Bailey and experiencing the kindness and joy he brought into their lives.
We are grateful for the time we had with him, for the memories he gave us, and for the lasting mark he left on the Elliott Student Union. Bailey’s impact and the way he made people feel will stay with us.
Rest in peace, Bailey. You will be missed, remembered, and loved.
