Rush University Medical Center (RUMC), a nationally recognized academic and clinical institution, invites nominations and applications for the position of Chairperson, Department of Clinical Nutrition, College of Health Sciences. The Chairperson for Clinical Nutrition is responsible and accountable for the administration of the academic department of the College and for leading its academic and research activities. These responsibilities encompass both the intra-and inter-departmental functions. The Chair collaborates with the Dietetic Internship Director to ensure that academic courses meet ACEND competencies as needed.

The Department of Clinical Nutrition offers a Master of Science in clinical nutrition degree for any applicant with a bachelor’s degree who wishes to enhance their nutrition knowledge base and skills. The Department also offers the Combined Master of Science (MS)/Dietetic Internship program for 16 students on a full-time basis. The vision for the students within the master's degree program and the combined master’s degree and dietetic internship program at Rush University is: “The Clinical Nutrition learning community will be the leading nutritional sciences program committed to transforming nutritional care through innovative research and education.”

The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment and experience in leadership, administration, research scholarship and education. Candidates will have a doctorate degree from an accredited university, in a field appropriate for the position. In addition, acceptable candidates will have credentials that merit appointment as Associate Professor or Professor; successful track record of overseeing accreditation processes; research, scholarship and teaching records; experience with university and college academic, student and business affairs; a good background in educational research, statistics and educational evaluation; and excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.

NUTRITION EXPERTS PART-TIME NEEDED FOR 2017-2018

The Gaston and Porter Health Improvement Center (GPHIC) is in need of certified nutrition experts for its 13 week Prime Time Sister Circles® Program held in Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia. Of the 13 weeks, two sessions are devoted to nutrition. Each session is 75 minutes long and there is a curriculum to be followed.

Prime Time Sister Circles® is a health prevention program for African American Women ages 40-75 which started in 2003. Currently, circles are being held in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Chicago and Rochester, NY. These circles meet weekly for two hours with emphasis on nutrition, stress, hypertension and fitness. Circles are conducted spring and fall of each year.

The expert is to provide interactive presentations based on the curriculum for two sessions such as: Eating To Live, Develop Your Nutrition Plan and to provide handouts.

There will be a review of the curriculum with our Co-Founder, Dr. Marilyn Gaston. Payment has been established at $ 200.00 per two hour session.
