(Part 2 of 2) This weekend, we held our first in-person DCX (DC Experience) event, an immersive on-campus experience for our online Master of Science graduate students and program alumni, since the Spring 2020 semester, and it was a smash. Organized by the American University Professional Studies faculty and staff, participants - all brilliant and enthusiastic - traveled to American University (AU) to meet one another in person and partake in an array of professional development and networking activities we had planned for them.
Day 1 (Continued) > After the museum site visit, participants attended a skill building workshop on the [business] of data and how to utilize data to "solve real world business challenges" conducted by the charismatic business pioneer George Assimakopoulos. This was followed by a visit to campus to soak up the AU atmosphere, get ID cards, and shop at the gift store. Attendees then enjoyed a fascinating and extremely informative panel discussion on the versatility of the use of data and anaytics in the workplace (by expert panelists Amber Clayton, SHRM-SCP; Esther Nolton, Ph.D.; Michelle Price, and Stacey Snelling, Ph.D.). Day 1 closed with an awesome networking gathering at Pizzeria Paradiso.
Day 2 > An utterly thought-provoking and entertaining keynote address, "Finding Your Flow: Prepare Yourself for an Authentic Life and Career" by the ultra talented Omekongo Dibinga, Ph.D., wowed our audience before the day closed with a workshop on the types of data visualization by renowned award-winning project manager Alexia Nalewaik, Ph.D. (she/her), a group activity, and lunch.
We would like to thank all of our attendees for joining us (more posts on this event are forthcoming). We are already eager for the next DCX! Stay tuned.
