We look forward to all the exciting spring events on the horizon for our students โ€” research symposiums, portfolio defenses, and graduations! We hope to see some of our alumni community there as well.

Fifty years of NDU is not just a milestone.

It is a measure of strategic impact across generations of national security leaders. This year, that legacy is joined by another proud marker: 24 years of the College of International Security Affairs (CISA) shaping how leaders think, partner, and act in complex security environments.

For 24 years, CISA has helped leaders sharpen how they assess complex security environments, work with interagency and international partners, and translate strategy into effective action. It is a community built on rigorous thought, real world relevance, and relationships that extend well beyond the classroom. To CISA alumni, faculty, and partners, thank you for advancing the mission and strengthening the force.

This is just the beginning of a yearlong celebration. In the months ahead, we will continue spotlighting milestone anniversaries across every NDU college, alongside the NDU 50 theme, honoring the people, partnerships, and purpose that strengthen the mission.

Stay with us as we recognize each chapter of NDUโ€™s legacy and the leaders shaping what comes next.

๐Ÿฆ… Student Publication Spotlight | MAJ Ryan Walters

We are proud to recognize MAJ Ryan Walters (CISA JSOMA Class of 2026) for his recent scholarly contributions to Small Wars Journal, a leading forum for analysis on irregular warfare and contemporary security challenges.

MAJ Walters is the co-author of โ€œCognitive Warfare Without a Map: Why Current Targeting Logic Fails in a Fast-Moving Information Ecosystem,โ€ which examines how adversaries exploit cognitive vulnerabilities and decision-making processes in modern conflict. In addition to this piece, he also coauthored another published article in Small Wars Journal, further demonstrating his commitment to rigorous analysis and professional military discourse.

These publications reflect the depth of thought, intellectual curiosity, and operational relevance that CISA students bring to todayโ€™s most complex security problems.

Congratulations to MAJ Walters on these outstanding accomplishmentsโ€”we look forward to seeing more of his work in the future. ๐Ÿ‘
