So exciting to see our students presenting their third-year 302 Studio work from the School of Architecture.

In collaboration with Deaf-REACH, a Washington, DC nonprofit supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities, students explored inclusive housing design in the Brookland neighborhood. .sette.oito

The 2026 Career Fair at the Catholic University School of Architecture demonstrated the strength of our professional network and its direct impact on students.

Firms from across the U.S. joined us in Washington, DC, with many alumni returning to campus to engage the next generation. These conversations move beyond recruiting. They reinforce mentorship, continuity, and a shared investment in the future of the profession.

Thank you to the American Institute of Architecture Students, our alumni, and our industry partners for sustaining this vital connection between education and practice.

Last week, David M. Schwarz Architects hosted a group of students from the 301 Classical Studios. Principal Josh Arcurio, who sat on multiple juries for the students throughout the Fall semester, led them on a tour of the office and the firm’s impressive work. The visit concluded with four selected students pinning up their projects and presenting them to the DMSA team.
Thank you DMSA for your hospitality!

Thesis 2 Final Presentations.
We had our final presentations today, and what a rewarding conclusion to an incredible semester. It’s always inspiring to watch our students present their work with such clarity and conviction—and to hear the thoughtful conversations that unfold with our esteemed jurors.

Congratulations to all! Your dedication, creativity, and growth were on full display. We couldn’t be prouder. 👏✨

Crough was buzzing as our 301/501 students filled every presentation space with final boards, models, and plenty of coffee. The energy was high, the work was strong, and the studios came alive with focused conversations and thoughtful critiques. A great finish to an intense semester.

CUArch & Allied Arts
Our Adaptive Reuse and Net Zero reviews highlighted thoughtful design, technical rigor, and a commitment to human-centered architecture. Prof Patricia Andrasik’s students presented strong proposals for a Net Zero Ready Visitation Center, supported by detailed drawings and beautifully crafted models. We were grateful to have the Sisters of Life, guest jurors, and colleagues join us for an engaging day of critique and conversation.

Brick Day gave our students a full introduction to masonry, from learning the fundamentals to laying bricks themselves. Huge thanks to Kirk Taylor and the PVB team for sharing their time, knowledge, and craft. It was a great day of hands-on learning and connection.

This Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting the School of Architecture and Allied Arts. We’re raising $45,000 to furnish our new library—set to be installed at the end of this semester—expand our architecture book collection, and support a student librarian. Every gift brings us closer.

Suspended in the Great Hall of the National Building Museum, The Wave is a 55-by-180-foot recycled aluminum space frame that demonstrates how advanced material logic and fabrication can shape the next generation of resilient architectural structures. Its lightness and strength reveal how engineering precision and design imagination can coexist in a single form.

Led by Catholic University of America professor Tonya Ohnstad in collaboration with students and industry partners. The Wave is a full-scale research project demonstrating how material innovation and collaborative fabrication can shape a more sustainable built environment. The exhibition transforms the museum into a place for public discourse and scholarship—inviting visitors to engage with the evolving relationship between structure, material, and design.
