🌟In honor of Women’s History Month, Xi Zeta Omega is pleased to highlight a living legend, Dr. Jeanne Craig Sinkford, DDS!🌟

Pioneering Leader: Dr. Sinkford was the first African American woman Dean of any dental school in the nation, leading Howard University College of Dentistry for sixteen years, breaking barriers and setting a powerful example for future generations in dentistry.

Advocate for Education: Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Sinkford dedicated her career to education as a professor and dean emeritus, In 1979, she coauthored Profile of the Negro in American Dentistry.

Commitment to Diversity: As a trailblazer, she has been a staunch advocate for diversity and inclusion within the dental community, and was appointed director of the Office of Women and Minority Affairs at the American Dental Education Association in Washington, D.C.

A proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated 🩷💚 and HBCU graduate, her legacy continues to inspire many in the world of dentistry! 🦷

Xi Zeta Omega’s GenerationNext Committee kicked off the year with an inspiring Coffee & Conversation event featuring our chapter president, Sister Tracy D. Harrison.

This intimate event fostered meaningful connections between our younger members and Sorority leadership. We were honored to support the Black-owned business, The Sankofa Cafe ().

The event also highlighted a book reading by Dr. Thema Bryant, showcasing her latest publication, Matters of the Heart.

Meet Moderator Regina Gill, registered dietitian, nutrition coach, and published author.

Regina attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) and graduated with a degree in Food Science. She then attended University of Maryland College Park earning a master’s degree in Nutrition, with a focus on metabolic syndrome and chronic disease management.

Her specialty is weight management, including weight loss and keeping weight off long term with mindful eating.

Meet Moderator Ellen Griffiths, registered dietitian nutritionist and Mind Body Eating Coach at Griffiths Wellness.

Ellen Griffiths began her journey at Howard University, earning a bachelor’s degree, followed by a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Michigan. Since then, she’s worked in a variety of settings, often focusing on helping clients manage or prevent chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and disordered eating.

Ellen has had a dynamic and evolving career in the field of nutrition, one that grows more intriguing by the day. As scientific advancements continue to enhance our understanding of how factors like food type, portion sizes, and timing impact health, Ellen is excited to see the world catching up with her long-held fascination with the subject.

And just like that… we’re back! On Saturday, January 4th, we kicked off our first meeting of 2025 with a packed house and a renewed commitment to excellence.

The day was a perfect blend of productivity and connection as we handled chapter business, celebrated birthdays, and hosted our Committee Fair. Members had the chance to explore exciting opportunities to serve and make an impact across our chapter. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
