OUR MISSION
TEDxJHUDC is a student organized event set to accomplish three goals:
Give a platform and a voice to the Hopkins community (students, faculty, alumni, staff) to share innovative ideas through a respected and proved platform such as TEDx. Elevate the Hopkins brand by showing the world the knowledge and ideas our community has to offer. Unite the three Hopkins schools in Washington DC
(AAP, Carey, and SAIS), encourage exchange of ideas, and promote more future collaborations. OUR VISION
Our vision is to have this event transform into an annual tradition through which the collaboration between the three Hopkins schools in Washington becomes a normal occurrence. As students, we often identify with our particular school and forget that we are part of a bigger family. This limits our potential for meeting people from diverse backgrounds and opening our minds to new ideas and unexpected collaborations. It is our vision that TEDxJHUDC is the beginning of the breaking down of these invisible barriers. TERMS & CONDITIONS DON'T APPLY
The theme we chose for this year’s event is a call to all members of the Hopkins community to think outside the box and not be limited by society’s and bureaucracy’s rules. In negotiations, one is taught to always “expand the pie,” meaning to add variables to the negotiation table that perhaps weren’t there in the first place. This means that there is always room to negotiate and change the original terms and conditions of any artistic, scientific, social, or business situation. We ask the attendees, speakers, and organizers of TEDxJHUDC to never be limited by written or invisible conditions that may limit a person’s thought process. We ask you to not be afraid to look beyond the terms and conditions that are holding you back.
