This past Saturday, Campus Ministry hosted the annual Jesuit Values Panel during New Student Orientation. Our chaplains gathered for an interreligious dialogue to introduce incoming Hoyas to the Spirit of Georgetown—our university’s core Jesuit values—and invite everyone to explore these principles through the lens of their own unique traditions, backgrounds, and experiences.

Encounter students and student leaders connected with chaplains and learned about the experiences of religious communities at Georgetown.

Encounter brings together first-year students — those rooted in a faith tradition and those who are still exploring — to build relationships across difference, engage in interfaith dialogue, and work together toward the most pressing concerns of our world. We're so glad this cohort is here.

"The program affirmed my Jewish identity, welcoming me into a culture of inclusivity, curiosity, and warmth. The ceremony and celebration were so joyful for my family and me, and seeing friends supporting me was so valuable, especially at the end of freshman year, just having moved to a new part of the country without knowing anyone. More importantly, I really do feel more confident in the idea that I am Jewish, and I am so excited to keep learning,” says Lucy Rotenberg (C’29).
