Georgetown Debate @ the 79th National Debate Tournament!

Ben & Connelly finished the tournament as Quarterfinalists with a 7-1 record in preliminary debates. Connelly was also the 3rd overall speaker!

Ben & Connelly WON their Octas debate and are now debating in the Quarterfinals of the NDT! Hoya Saxa!

Georgetown has been spending the last four days competing at the 79th National Debate Tournament at Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington.

Connelly & Ben - Georgetown CS - ended prelims with a 7-1 record and are debating Northwestern in the Octas this morning! Connelly was also the THIRD overall speaker!

Georgetown Debate's 2023-2024 season has come to a close with the conclusion of the 78th National Debate Tournament hosted by Emory University.

Georgetown sent three teams to this year's NDT and all three teams cleared to elimination rounds. This is the first time in program history we've had three teams in elimination rounds of the NDT!

LW was recognized as the Fourth Ranked team in the Copeland Race at the opening awards ceremony. LW finished as the 6th and 7th speakers and lost in the octafinals on a 4-1 decision to the Michigan team who would later win the tournament.

ZZ finished in the octafinals and CW finished in the doubles. Kumail Zaidi (Georgetown ZZ) was the 12th speaker and Connelly Cowan (Georgetown CW) was the 21st speaker.

This has been a fantastic year for Georgetown Debate. Hoya Saxa! 💙
