Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated- Xi Omega Chapter

Chartered in 1923, Xi Omega is the first and largest graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in Washington, D.C.

Membership is by invitation only. For 100 years, Xi Omega has led with supreme service and sisterhood in Washington, D.C. Alpha Kappa Alpha founders Norma Boyd and Carrie Snowden were among the 20 visionaries who chartered the chapter in 1923. Through the years, Xi Omega has been home to several AKA founders and three international presidents. Today, Xi Omega's multi-generational membership exceed

s 650 women, bound by a commitment to uplift lives and futures in the nation's capital. In addition to generating funds for scholarships administered by its Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation, Xi Omega supervises three undergraduate chapters — Alpha Chapter (Howard University), Beta Lambda Chapter (University of District of Columbia) and Lambda Zeta Chapter (American University) — and owns Xi Omega Center in northwest DC.

THE RACE IS ON! The Norma E. Boyd 5K Race is back and registration is NOW OPEN!

Over the last 13 years, we’ve raised over $98,000 to continue our mission of funding dreams and providing scholarships to deserving DC high school seniors and continuing college students, giving them the resources to go further.

What started in 2012 as a single race has grown into a citywide movement, and last year our community doubled its goal, raising over $20,000 for scholars. Now it’s time to lace up and do it again.

This is what 250 looks like.

Joy on the block. Sparklers in hand. Generations deep and rooted in the love that has always carried us. We celebrate America’s 250th birthday knowing that freedom has never been a gift passively received. It is a mantle actively carried, and as women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, we have never put it down.
