Last Thursday, AU and GMU PRSSA had the incredible honor of presenting Olympic Gold Medalist Ilia Malinin with our ‘Icons of DC’ Award! 🏆⛸️

The ‘Icon of DC’ is an AU PRSSA signature award that recognizes a person or organization from the DC area who have made tremendous contributions in the community and country. Ilia is a prime example of who we seek to give this award to, and we are so grateful that he came to accept the award and have a conversation with us.

As Ilia is a student at George Mason University, we were eager to partner with their chapter of PRSSA for the award this year! Getting to know and connect with the executive board of GMU PRSSA was an incredible privilege, and we cannot speak more highly of their advisor Barbara, President Kai, and the rest of their e-board. 💚🤍

Ilia told the story about his nickname “Quad God,” opened up about off the ice hobbies such as gaming and spending time with his family and cats, and talked about his music taste. As a 21 year old college student, Ilia was extremely relatable and connected deeply with the audience.

And of course, we had to get a picture on the quad with the Quad God!

“My note to all of you is: don’t be afraid to fail in life, because you learn so much more from not being able to achieve the things you want.” -Ilia Malinin

Thank you to everybody who attended, you made this event possible. ⭐️
