The Bachelor of Arts in English broadens and deepens a student’s understanding of the English language; American and British literature; and develops skills in analytical thinking, creative and persuasive writing, critical reading, and research. The English major prepares students for teaching (at the secondary level) and has long been regarded as appropriate baccalaureate preparation for careers in law, medicine, business, and government.

, 27, of Jeffersonville, was found safe in a cabin near Lake Edison in the Sierra mountain range.

The resort's owner, Christopher Gutierrez, found Slaton after cleared the road for him to access and open his property for the summer, authorities said in press release.

Gutierrez told authorities that he kept his cabin unlocked in the rare event that someone would get stranded in the mountains and need to seek shelter.

His hunch appears to have paid off. Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, Gutierrez said when he realized a woman was in the , he recognized Slaton from her persons report.

"She pops out, didn’t say a word, just ran up, and all she wanted was a hug. And it was, it was a pretty moment," said Gutierrez. "And that’s when I knew. That’s when I realized who this was."
