Starbucks’ Sudden Closure at Howard Is Another Hit to Student Food Options

Students and community members were shocked by the sudden end to the campus Starbucks — and so was Howard University. Officials said the university had no prior notice of the closure, but would work "to identify a suitable replacement” for the store, which opened in 2002 through a partnership with Magic Johnson. Multiple restaurants along the business strip on Georgia Avenue have recently closed or relocated, partly due to redevelopment plans.
