‼️EVENT UPDATE‼️ : Join us for an engaging conversation with Adam Mockler, a prominent young political commentator and organizer focused on the state of youth politics today, on April 23rd, 3:15 PM at the HFSC Herman Room.

In this conversation moderated by Prof. Patrick McSweeney, Mockler will discuss how young people are shaping political discourse, the role of digital media in activism, and the challenges and opportunities facing Gen Z in electoral and issue-based politics. Following the moderated discussion, students will have the opportunity to directly debate Mockler, ask questions, and challenge his views in a respectful format.

Vice President Ruberwa will be joined in conversation by Dr. Michael Rubin, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and a foreign policy advisor with expertise on Africa. Join us for a discussion with internationally acclaimed artist Raf-Saperra. Blending Punjabifolk tradition with the raw pulse of contemporary hip-hop, Raf-Saperra’s music tells the story of a region fraught with legendary culture. In the past year, Raf has worked with artists like Skrillex, Nas, Ghostface Killah, and Benny The Butcher, cementing him as a rare connective force between Punjabi storytelling and hip-hop lineage.

Doors will open at 5:30 PM outside of the HFSC Social Room, and the event will begin at 6. The discussion will be moderated by Arjun Brar (L’28). RSVPs are required for entry, and can be found in the Linktree.

Moderated by Dr. Robert J. Patterson and grounded in the framework of the 1619 Project, this event will explore why acknowledging race and racism is essential to understanding contemporary power structures, and why sustained, racially diverse dialogue, particularly within institutions of higher education, is necessary to foster collective responsibility, deeper historical awareness, and more honest engagement with America’s past and present.

Join the Georgetown University Lecture Fund for an important discussion on journalism and the opioid crisis in the United States with award-winning journalist Sam Quinones, author of Dreamland and The Least of Us. This event will be happening on February 19th, at 3PM in the Arrupe Multipurpose Room

Sam Quinones will discuss his experiences reporting on individuals and communities directly affected by the opioid crisis. Quinones will be joined in conversation by Professor Amanda Latimore, who served in roles at the Baltimore City Health Department and Behavioral Health System Baltimore. Students will have the opportunity to hear these experts in conversation and ask questions.

Join Disability Cultural Center and Lecture Fund for Disabled Oracles with Alice Wong, a disabled activist, writer, editor, and community organizer.

She is the founder of the Disability Visibility Project, an online community dedicated to creating, sharing, and amplifying disability media and culture. Alice is the editor of Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century, an anthology of essays by disabled people and Disability Visibility: 17 First-Person Stories for Today, an adapted version for young adults. Her debut memoir, Year of the Tiger: An Activist’s Life was published in 2022. Her latest anthology, Disability Intimacy: Essays on Love, Care, and Desire is available now. In 2024 Alice was named a MacArthur Fellow.
