Dear lovely AU Students,

I hope you all are doing well and taking some well-deserved extended break time! This is Anna Morrison from CDI. I wanted to reach out as the Coordinator of LGBTQ Student Support to connect with you on emergency housing. As you may have seen, American University recently sent this message notifying students that you will need to return to your home addresses for the rest of the semester due to COVID-19. As we know, many LGBTQ folks have complicated, potentially even unfriendly relationships with the people at their home address, and therefore going there is not an option. If your are not able to return to your home address due to your identity, please reach out to BOTH the AU-identified email [email protected] and Cc me at [email protected] so I can help advocate on your behalf. If you're unsure of what to do, please reach out to just myself and we can discuss.

All CDI staff, including myself, will be online and working remotely throughout the rest of the semester as normal, meaning you are always welcome to chat with me via email or video call during regular business hours! We're still here for you!!

Sending love from me and my dog Pixel,
Anna Morrison

While many student groups formulate thoughtfully developed ideas for public and community service, few actually have the funds to put them into action. The Eagle Endowment addresses this challenge and empowers AU students by providing annual grants of $100 - $1,000 and a year of mentorship to students and groups that propose such initiatives. Proud recipient of the 2017 "Top College Philanthropic Organization in the USA", our goal is to extend your passion beyond the classroom in a thoughtful way that helps the DMV community and advances your skills. If you want to get involved and don't know how to start, email us!
