Hello Everyone. This is the brand new page for the group that will become the George Washington University Pipes and Drums. I have started this group because I feel that it will be an incredible and unique addition to our campus community. For anyone is interested in participating, please know that there is no experience necessary. We will teach you to play either the bagpipes or the drums. Our goal is to have a corps of street ready performers by the end of this year. If you have any questions feel free to email me at [email protected] and please check back in here for additional updates and meeting times. Thanks to all. Slan go foill.

Drummers take note! Announcement: Pipe band drummers in the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. Just about the highest octane teaching staff for our idiom is going to be available at the Piping Centre summer school in Winchester, VA, in a couple weeks. Snare/Jim Kilpatrick ... living legend and direct link to the Alex Duthart era, Jim had a direct impact on my own education about style and technique. Inspirational. Tenor/ Tyler Fry ... speaking of Living Legends, Tyler's name has taken on the status of being synonymous with modern tenor pipe band tenor drumming. A more enthusiastic and effective performer/educator/advocate does not exist. Bass / Mike Cole ... the Johnny Cymbal song, "Mr. Bass Man," was written in dedication to Mike when he was but a lad. Okay, maybe not, but never let the facts get in the way of a good story. Mike is as good a man, and excellent a player and teacher as you're likely to encounter. No one out there that can introduce you to the intricacies and nuances of the big drum with as much laid-back panache as Mike. If there's any chance to squeeze this into your schedule at this late date, I can not recommend it highly enough. DO NOT DELAY ... get to the Piping Centre website and get your toe in the door yesterday.
