Upgraded PubMed filters are here!

Earlier this summer, Himmelfarb Library updated our PubMed filters to make sorting your search results by research method and article type easier and more accurate than ever.

Here's what's new:

• Systematic Reviews: Now includes scoping and umbrella reviews for a more complete methodological picture.

• Practice Guidelines: Expanded to include the broader Guidelines [Publication Type] hierarchy, capturing a wider scope of healthcare activities.

• Randomized Controlled Trials: Cleaned up! We removed Clinical Trials as Topic [MeSH] to cut out the noise and reduce less relevant articles.

• Cohort & Case-Control: Improved recall by adding Cross-Sectional and Epidemiologic MeSH terms, while removing the broader Comparative Study tag.

• Background/Reviews: Sharpened focus by unexploding the Review publication type to filter out heavier evidence syntheses (like meta-analyses).

Head over to PubMed via Himmelfarb's link on our homepage (link in bio) to try out the updated filters on your next literature search!
