A year ago, the Class of 2025 walked across the stage and into the next chapter of their journeys. Since then, they've built careers across federal agencies, state legislatures, international organizations, and DC's leading think tanks — and they're just getting started.

We checked in with seven alumni to hear about their current roles, what McCourt prepared them for, and the advice they'd pass along to the Class of 2026. Their words of wisdom? Stay persistent, lean on your network and trust your timing.

As a mother of five, Khai Booker knows a thing or two about balancing a busy schedule. While serving as program coordinator at the Massive Data Institute, she dedicated her weekends to earning an Online Certificate in Data Science from Georgetown’s School of Continuing Studies.

From mastering predictive modeling to developing a Capstone project on global migration patterns, Khai has spent the last year turning raw data into a tool for advocacy. By bridging the gap between activism and analytics, she is ensuring that high-level insights reach the people who need them most.

"I came to Georgetown because I thought I was going to change the world. I still think that."

Christopher Edwards (C'27) grew up in Jamaica and immigrated to Alabama in sixth grade, where he witnessed the inequities in the U.S. education system up close. That experience brought him toward Georgetown, and toward a career in education and social welfare policy.

Now, as part of the inaugural cohort of the Joint Program in Public Policy, he lives and studies steps from the U.S. Capitol — putting policy into practice.

Christopher Edwards is part of the first cohort of undergraduates majoring in public policy and living and learning in downtown DC.

Meet the McCourt School's Newmark Scholars, a cohort of active-duty service members, veterans, and military-connected students bringing their lived experience to public policy.

Meghan Hall (MPP'26), Haley Morton (MPP'26), Steve Nava (MPM'26), and Cade Roy (PPP'26) know what it means when policy works — and when it doesn't. Now, as recipients of the Craig Newmark Veterans Scholarship Fund, they're building the tools to shape better outcomes for the communities they've served.

Abbey Basa (MPP-JD'26) grew up in rural Appalachia, where she saw firsthand how policy decisions shaped access to care in underserved communities. Originally on track for medical school, she realized her path to impact wasn't through treating individual patients—it was through addressing the systemic challenges that created inequities in the first place.

Now, as a dual-degree student at McCourt and Georgetown Law, Abbey is learning how law defines the boundaries, and policy determines priorities and implementation. Read her story:

Abbey Basa wanted to be a doctor. Now she is pursuing public policy and law degrees to tackle systemic challenges in education and healthcare.
