CUA - JU LL.M. in American Law Join the CUA Columbus School of Law LL.M. Program in American Law, the American Law Program, and International Business & Trade Summer Law Program! degree.

The Columbus School of Law of The Catholic University of America and the Jagiellonian University, Faculty of Law and Administration, offer a course of studies leading to the LL.M. The LL.M. is an internationally recognized professional and academic postgraduate law degree. The CUA LL.M. can be obtained through courses taken in one summer in residence in Cracow, Poland, a series of one and two-week

courses offered in the following academic year, and a summer in residence at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.

Welcome, Dawid Wojtycza!

Dawid is a fifth-year law student at the University of the National Education Commission in KrakΓ³w, where he is expected to graduate in 2026. His academic interests include civil law, commercial law, and new technologies law. He works as a paralegal at a law firm. In the future, he aims to become an advocate and build a professional career in legal practice. He is passionate about cinema, music, good literature, cycling, and traveling.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ The LL.M. in American Law gives participants a chance to study American law in the place where many of its institutions, debates, and professional networks are actually located: Washington, D.C.

πŸ“Έ Natalia’s photos show this side of the program very clearly. The American Bar Association, the streets of D.C., the White House, coffee between activities, and the everyday rhythm of a city that is closely connected with law, politics, and public life. It is one thing to read about the American legal system. It is something completely different to spend time in the environment where that system is part of daily reality.

βš–οΈ This is the real value of the LL.M. in American Law. American law stops being only a subject discussed in class and becomes something easier to understand through places, people, institutions, and practical context. You begin to see how legal culture works outside the textbook: in language, professional standards, public debate, and the way institutions operate.

πŸŽ“ For many participants, this module is the most memorable part of the whole path. After classes in KrakΓ³w, there comes a moment to test your perspective in a different environment, use English in a real academic and professional context, and see what international legal education can actually look like.

We’re thrilled to welcome individuals full of passion, curiosity, and motivation.

Welcome, Piotr Śmietana!

Piotr is a second-year law student at Jagiellonian University in KrakΓ³w, interested in International Insolvency Law and the logic behind persuasive legal arguments. He stays close to legal practice by gaining experience at a local law firm in his hometown. Through the program, he hopes to improve his legal English and better understand the American legal system. Outside law, he enjoys playing the piano, working out, history, and exploring new places.

Andi Wu is a law student and a rising 2L student at CUA Law who is interested in Intellectual Property Law and legislation. Andi likes to spend his free time drawing or 3D modeling. He likes low-polygon animals and wants to attempt advanced origami. His favorite kinds of museums are ones with minerals and he likes dioptase and moss agate the best.

Nathalie is a law student at Catholic University Columbus School of Law in Washington, D.C. She studied philosophy at the University of Maryland, with a focus in metalogic. Nathalie enjoys listening to live music, riding horses, indoor rock-climbing, and playing chess. A fun fact is that she worked as a diamond expert for Tiffany & Company before pursuing law, and she met her husband through their shared interest in gemology.

A new path starts with the American Law Program!

We’re excited to welcome curious minds ready for this experience.

Welcome, Hubert PaΕ„czak!

Hubert is a third-year law student at the Jagiellonian University in KrakΓ³w, Poland and his academic interests include private law, especially contracts and commercial law. He is the President of JU Student Civil Law Association (KoΕ‚o Naukowe Prawa Cywilnego UJ) with responsibilities being: organizing student conferences and meetings or workshops with legal firms and academic researchers. He also conducts weekly supplementary classes under the Association for students, who are preparing for civil law exam, attends and speaks at conferences and participates in competitions - he is a laureate of JU civil law competition, a finalist of JU banking law competition and a quarter-finalist of CIVILIS moot court by ELSA. His goals are primarily to continue his academic career by becoming a PhD student and also to practice law professionally. He is ambitious, hard-working, determined, reliable and has experience and skills in teamwork. His private interests are hiking, philosophy and literature; he plays the piano and loves classical music.

Klaudia is a second-year law student at Jagiellonian University, with academic interests in administrative law and environmental law. In addition to her legal studies she's pursuing a degree in sociology also at Jagiellonian University, because she's interested in a broader perspective on society, and how social norms regulate human behavior. In her spare time she is expanding her knowledge in psychology and history of literature. Through the program, she's hoping to deepen her understanding of the U.S. legal system, gaining additional qualifications that she plans to leverage in her future professional career.
