Congratulations to Catholic University politics major Don “Trey” Murnane III for being named a 2026 Key Into Public Service Scholar by the Phi Beta Kappa Society — one of only 20 students selected nationwide from nearly 800 applicants. 🎉
A pre-law honors student at The Catholic University of America, Trey has built an impressive record of leadership, scholarship, and public service through internships on Capitol Hill, work in legal and public affairs, and service in his local district attorney’s office. He’ll receive a $7,600 scholarship and participate in a national leadership conference focused on careers in government and public service.

We are pleased to announce that the new "Certificate in Foundations and Applications of AI" from the College of Arts & Sciences is now officially available in Cardinal Students!

This truly interdisciplinary certificate will prepare students for an increasingly AI-integrated workplace, by teaching them how to frame problems, weigh consequences, and exercise the judgment required to direct AI systems wisely.

There is no prior technical knowledge required, in fact, this certificate was created for students from any major seeking to complement their primary discipline with AI literacy and practical AI skills. Students in technical fields looking to develop a deeper understanding of ethical, cultural and historical dimensions of AI may also be interested in this certificate.

The certificate consists of (1) core course, GS 250, (1) Ethics course and (2) "Technology in Context" electives examining AI's role in the student's domain of interest. The electives are very flexible. We will always be looking for new classes to add from all disciplines!
