Congratulations to Gallaudet RMI students Anton Fletcher & Austin Altman for completing their virtual internship at the D.C. Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB.) Yesterday Anton & Austin presented their research findings virtually to DISB. Gallaudet employees and RMI students were also in attendance. This is Gallaudet’s 5th year providing interns to DISB. I want to thank Commissioner Karima Woods and everyone at DISB for your continuing support. I would like to give a special thank you to Associate Commissioner Philip Barlow. Phil works closely with our students during the internship process. Without his help this would not have happened this year. It would have been much easier to just no because of COVID-19. However, Phil would not have any such thing. This was DISB’s first virtual internship and we made history! Anton and Austin are now actively seeking full time employment. If anyone has any openings or know of anyone who has openings, please let us know. Anton and Austin are two smart, motivated, energetic graduates ready to start their RMI careers. Help open a door, you will not be disappointed. Again, thank you DISB for your support!

Many thanks to the Washington D.C. CPCU society, George Burgee, Debbie McKibben, Brandon Perry and Mary Winicour. Your Lunch & Learn program was excellent. You made history as this was our first RMI virtual Lunch & Learn program. After reading all of the positive comments from students this will certainly be the first of many more to come.
Special thanks to Susan Scott, Risk Strategies, for working with me to make this possible.

Congratulations to Jake Grindstaff for passing his Life and Health Insurance Agent Exam in the State of Maryland! Passing this exam is no easy task. Jake is a benefits data analyst with USI insurance. Jake was one of my very first students when the Gallaudet RMI program started in 2015. Jake completed internships at Marsh and the D.C. Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB). It makes me so proud for what he and others have accomplished in just a few short years. Education and internships are two of the most important keys to success. They open up all sorts of opportunities and possibilities!

Congratulations to Gallaudet RMI students Austin Altman and Anton Fletcher for starting their virtual internship at the Washington D.C. Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB) This is Gallaudet’s 5th year providing interns to DISB. It’s been a great relationship. I want to thank everyone at the DISB for providing these opportunities to our students. Topics researched by past interns include: Telematics, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Wearable Medical Devices, Voice Activation Technology. Research included how these topics impacted insurance regulation and how regulation impacted these risks. Looking forward to learn what topic Austin and Anton select!

Thank you, Scott Caggiano CLF,LUTCF
Managing Partner, New York Life Insurance Company for a very informative zoom presentation to Gallaudet’s RMI Life Insurance class. You demonstrated how important life insurance is and that it can be an integral part of a sound risk management program, particularly key person life insurance. It’s interesting to note that New York Life Insurance Company now has thousands of zoom accounts and it has become a primary way for conducting business. COVID-19 has forced us to a virtual reality and made us realize that business and education can be conducted virtually with great success.

I want to thank Diane Murphy and Marty Sarsfield, Risk Management Department, the American Red Cross for making a very informative, passionate and interesting zoom presentation to my Introduction to Risk Management and Insurance class. Students were very engaged and asked several great questions. COVID-19 may have brought to the forefront how valuable and important a risk management career is.
