American University Campus YMCA Congress AU College YIG The Youth and Government program has a strong history at the high school level and is now growing into a national collegiate program.

American University is the Beta chapter of the National Youth In Government program (http://collegeyig.org/). The club sends a delegation to the national conference each year and this year won Chapter of the Year in addition to many of our delegates winning individual awards. The program is broken into the three b

ranches of government and a press corps. Legislative: In a model Senate and House legislators can write and debate bills. Executive: Cabinet members are appointed by the national president and are responsible for administrative tasks such as writing the budget. Judicial: Students can participate as attorneys and have the possibility of being appointed to the Supreme Court which hears cases argued by the attorney. Press: Press delegates cover the national conference and YIG happenings throughout the year (http://www.collegeyignews.org/).
