“I love GWSB because of the diversity of perspectives within our school. Between professors, students, and other staff, there are so many different backgrounds/perspectives with a wealth of knowledge and experience that lend opportunity to learn from outside of the classroom. Additionally, our alumni network is something that I feel GWSB is privileged to have such a strong foundation of, and something I’m so appreciative of as a developing business professional.”

“Being at GWSB truly prepares you for the real world. From year one we get to be in contact with successful individuals, network with them, ask questions, and form professional relationships that open endless doors of opportunities. These opportunities aren’t made to just to make us stronger applicants on paper, but also to make us better people as a whole. There is an emphasis here on communication and personable skills that helps boost your confidence when you walk into that interview. It’s also obvious that the staff values us and wants to see us succeed. That gives a sense of unity as students that we are all navigating the business world together while having a strong backbone of the school to support us and give us any guidance we need. “Who said you need to step on others to get to the top” is the quote on Duques’ lobby steps, and never once have I felt that anyone at GW questions that. “

"Upon entering the hall, I am either greeted with a rush of graduate students excitedly chatting about the latest developments of their internships, or a group of professionally-dressed businessmen and women in the lobby discussing the current state of the U.S economy over a cup of coffee. Everyone I meet in the GWSB appear to have sense of purpose and direction for their careers and understand what is necessary in order to achieve their ambitions. I am very excited to further myself in the business world, by improving my business etiquette and presentation skills and contributing and promoting the GWSB as a center for innovation of the future, not only for The George Washington University but also the United States and beyond."

“Being president of the UBA has been the culmination of everything coming before it. If truth be told, my exposure to the business school started freshman year, rushing and becoming a member of AKPsi. However, there were no breaks, time to take a pause or to relax. It was only after one semester of being a brother of AKPsi, that I ran for president, and I got it! For a year, I carried on that role and was simultaneously honored with the role of an FYDP mentor my sophomore year. Still today, I say hello to a lot of my students and observe them succeeding as well; which is a beautiful thing to experience. Through AKPsi and being an FYDP mentor, I was able to leverage both of those experiences to become a Fowler coordinator as a junior. I always like to impart to my student that throughout your life, leadership experiences, leading organizations, just being involved and making a difference is sometimes even more valid than a range of job experiences. In spring of 2017, I was inspired to run a massive campaign for president of the UBA, and I am grateful that it all worked out. I’ve said this once, but I’ll say it again, making relationships with all the people within GWSB, being part of this wonderful community and network of staff, faculty, and alumni mean the world to me. However, if I was able to inspire just one person to go above and beyond, to make a difference in this community as well, then that means I’ve done my job, and that’s kind of a wonderful thing.”

“Being here, even just for a semester, puts things in perspective. I don’t know if it’s specifically because I’m at GWU, or just because of the experience of studying abroad. Study abroads can be challenging because you have to deal with everything being new – people, academics, places, everything. However, challenges tend to bring out the best in us. So I always welcome that. My time at GWU has also helped me understand the American culture and work ethic better.”

“I love to see the growth that Lemonade Day DC has had, even though I’ve only been involved for 2 years. I know that it’s always changing and adapting so it can be done in the best way possible. We’ve been able to reach so many students who have such great minds, and are further expanding those minds through this program. They inspire me more than we’re supposed to inspire them. I’m so grateful to be a part of it; it’s changed my experience here at GWU, especially in GWSB.”

“GWSB really sets people up for the future and for their careers. At other schools, I feel that other people can be really stuck in college, they’re nervous to move on, and they really want to stay in college. But I feel like here, although we enjoy our experiences, we’re also really prepared for the future and what it has to hold. As a current junior, I feel very prepared for my internship this summer. When it comes time to graduate, I don’t think I'll be nervous.”

“I like the challenges that come from being a part of GWSB. The competitive atmosphere among students can wear on you mentally, but I don’t mind that because I don’t think I’d be searching things out as much as I do if there wasn’t this external pressure. It’s this highly competitive, yet very motivating environment that pushes us to succeed.”

“There isn’t just one moment that stands out to me, necessarily. But a moment that happens almost every single day is walking into the lobby of Duquès and seeing teamwork in action. You see people that you recognize, that you feel comfortable with, that you can sit with and talk to. It happens every day and it’s a good feeling."

“My most memorable moments have been working on the Ready, Set, Grow Conference and Philanthropy Week with AKPsi, DSP, UCG, and all the different organizations involved because everyone has such a deep passion for their members. It's interesting during the event meetings to see how each org is working for all of their members, and to see the passion each organization has for others, and not for themselves. That selflessness among the leaders in GWSB is really heartwarming because I think a lot of people see business as being a cut-throat industry. But the reality is here [at GWSB] everyone is looking out for each other and that’s the strong part of the community. It’s a positive feedback, everyone’s better off that way.”
