Congratulations to Dr. Lara Brown (Please Share)

GSPM Interim Director, Dr. Lara Brown, has been named the school’s Director. The announcement was made Tuesday, July 11, by College of Professional Studies Dean Ali Eskandarian. Dr. Brown had served as interim director since July 1, 2016. She came to GSPM in 2013 to serve as an associate professor and director for the Political Management Program. The GSPM Alumni Association congratulates Dr. Brown and is extremely pleased she will be continuing to serve as director of GSPM. Her leadership and managerial skills, expertise in politics and communication, and vision will advance the capabilities, performance, and reputation of GSPM, and enhance the future conduct and practice of those engaged in the fields of politics, public relations, and public affairs. We wish Dr. Brown great success and look forward to working with her.

Nominations Open for GSPM Alumni Association Executive Committee (Please Share)

Are you interested in serving on the Executive Committee of the GSPM Alumni Association? If so, read on.

Nominations are now being sought for election to the GSPM Alumni Association Executive Committee for two-year terms commencing August 1, 2017 and terminating July 31, 2019. The available positions are President, Executive Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The duties of each position are those typically associated with such titles, along with relevant committee work.

All members of the Executive Committee must be graduates of GSPM, including the on-campus, online, and international degree programs. In addition, the President must have previously served on the GSPMAA Board of Directors, and the President and EVP must reside within reasonable commuting distance of The George Washington University.

Interested candidates must submit a digital photo, and biography and statement of qualifications not to exceed a combined total of 250 words, by July 12, 2017 to current Board Secretary Franklin Hood at [email protected]. Questions may be directed to this address as well.

Registration for the 2017 GSPMAA Golf Tournament & Social Hour Now Open (Please Share)

Our 2nd annual Golf Tournament & Social Hour will take place Friday, June 9. All alumni, students, faculty, staff, spouses, and friends are invited.

The event will start with golf at Greendale Golf Course in Alexandria, VA. Tee time is 10:00 AM. Foursomes and individual golfers are welcome. The top foursome will win the prestigious GSPM Alumni Association Golf Tournament Silver Cup, won last year by Steve Billet, Gene Fisher, David Quam, and Brent Fewell. Prizes will also be awarded for winners of various skills contests. (Last year’s winners included Larry Parnell for the longest drive, and David Quam for the closest to the pin.) Afterwards, golf tournament participants and non-golfers will gather at TopGolf Alexandria from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, to mingle and play various skills games, while enjoying food and drinks on a private GSPMAA deck.

Proceeds from the event will be used to create a scholarship for a current GSPM student. Ticket prices are $160 for the Golf Tournament and Social Hour, and $60 for the Social Hour at TopGolf only. To purchase tickets, visit http://bit.ly/2017-GSPMAA-GolfEvent.
