Growing evidence suggests that air pollution is linked with COVID-19 health outcomes. A recent Harvard study highlights how an individual living in an air polluted region may be 8% more likely to die from COVID-19 than an individual living in a region with only 1 μg per cubic meter less of fine particulate matter (PM 2.5).

Air pollution does not affect us all equally. An article by Stanford researchers outlines how underprivileged communities are disproportionately exposed to higher levels of pollution. Long-term exposure to elevated air pollution is a significant risk factor for health complications in these vulnerable communities.
